World Water Day 2022 observed at Lawngtlai
Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Lawngtlai Division organised an observance of World Water Day 2022 today at DC’s Conference Hall, Lawngtlai. It was graced by Pu V. Zirsanga, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) as a Chief Guest.
In the function presided over by Deputy Commissioner Pi Marilyn Rualzakhumthangi, Sr Executive Engineer Er Netralal Jaisi delivered a keynote address and Sub-Divisional Officer Er L. Sangromuana gave a powerpoint presentation on importance and management of freshwater resources. Water Pledge was taken by the gathering government officials, leaders of NGOs and participants of competitions organised by PHED as part of observance of the Day. Diltlang Branch YLA also performed a drama on conservation of water sources.
In the programme, prizes of drama and slogan competitions were given away as below:
1. Drama Competition:
1st prize – Diltlang ‘S’ Branch YLA
2nd prize – Lawngtlai-III Branch YLA
3rd prize – Lawngtlai Bazar Branch YLA
Best Director – HC Lalthanliana, Diltlang ‘S’
Best Actor – H. Lalpekliana, Lawngtlai Council Veng
Best Actress – Lalmuanzuali, Lawngtlai Chandmary
Best Scriptwriter – Dr Krista Roluahpuia, Mualbu ‘L’
2. Slogan competition:
1st prize – Cindy Lalbiakchhûngi, Lawngtlai Vengpui
2nd prize – LH Hauheng, Chawnhu
3rd prize – Zohlimpuii Chhakchhuak, Lawngtlai Chandmary
After the function, the Chief Guest flagged off the World Water Day bike rally carried out by Lawngtlai Bullet Club.
World Water Day is an annual United Nations (UN) observance day held on 22nd March since 1993 that highlights the importance of fresh water. This year’s theme is “Groundwater : Making the Invisible Visible”.
