Deputy Commissioner of State Tax

HISTORY:-

Taxation Department, Lawngtlai zone was inaugurated on 7th June, 2006. Initially it was functioned as a circle office under Taxation department and then upgraded to Zonal office, w.e.f 15th February, 2011. Since  its establishment , the Department has played  a  key  role in the  collection of  revenue for the state of Mizoram by means of Mizoram Value Added Tax (MVAT), Mizoram Entry Tax(MET), and Entertainment Tax (E-Tax) . However, all these taxes   have been brought under a single umbrella of the so called Goods and Services Tax with effect from 1st July 2017. Under the GST regime, registration of tax payers and payment of tax has been done through GST online portal .Therefore, keeping in view the remoteness and internet connectivity problem of Lawngtlai District, help-desk has been opened for filing of tax return by dealer under the guidance and supervision of State Tax Officers. Currently headed by the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, taxation department, Lawngtlai Zone, has been functioning actively and effectively to provide efficient services to tax payers  in order to make the State of Mizoram financially sound and self- reliant.
