Remna Ni 2022 observed at Lawngtlai

The 36th anniversary of Remna Ni was observed today at DC’s Conference Hall, Lawngtlai.

The observance of Remna Ni at Lawngtlai was graced by the Speaker of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Pu Lalrinliana Sailo. Also gracing the function was the Chief Executive Member of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) Pu V. Zirsanga.

The function was attended by officials from LADC and state departments, representatives of non-governmental organisations and political parties and media personnel. Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai District Pu Amol Srivastava delivered a welcome speech. After Executive Secretary of Baptist Church of Mizoram Lawngtlai Area Rev. Dr H. Lalthlamuana led a session of devotion, a short video clip on Peace Accord prepared by District Information & Public Relations Office, Lawngtlai was shown. There were speeches from the Speaker and the CEM of LADC. The function ended with a vote of thanks from Additional Deputy Commissioner Pu James Miahlung.

The Mizo National Front (MNF) declared independence of Mizoram from India on 1st March, 1966. After 20 years of unrest in the land, the Government of India and the MNF signed a Peace Accord on 30th June, 1986 and Mizoram went on to become one of the most peaceful states in India till today.
