Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Pu John Barla visits Lawngtlai
Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Pu John Barla visited Lawngtlai to have a review meeting with the District Administration today.
The Union Minister of State, accompanied by District Council & Minority Affairs Secretary Dr Lalrozama, IAS, was received at Lawngtlai Helipad by Deputy Commissioner Pu Amol Srivastava, IAS and other officials from District Administration and Police.
Being Sunday, the Union Minister of State first attended morning church service at Centre Church local of the Lairam Jesus Christ Baptist Church (LJCBC/LIKBK) and had an interaction with religious leaders after the service. Then he went on to visit Lairam Christian Medical Centre & Hospital, run by the LIKBK. He also visited the ongoing construction of Residential Sports School at Lawngtlai College Veng under PMJVK scheme and also the ongoing construction of KMMTTP road by riding through it from Lawngtlai-Diltlang-Parva road junction upto AOC junction, Lawngtlai.
In the review meeting held at Lawngtlai DC’s Conference Hall with officials from State departments and Lai Autonomous District Council, the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Pu John Barla said that the Central Government is committed towards uplifting minority communities in the country and has launched various schemes for the same. He urged the officials to give wide awareness to the people on such schemes and to readily extend a helping hand to those in need.
In the meeting, DC Lawngtlai Pu Amol Srivastava highlighted status and progress of CSS projects being implemented in the District with a PowerPoint presentation. The Union Minister of State had an interactive discussion with officials to solve some existing problems and to facilitate further progress through the schemes.
The Union Minister of State departed for Aizawl by helicopter after having lunch at Circuit House, Lawngtlai.
