World Consumer Rights Day, 2022 observed at Lawngtlai

World Consumer Rights Day, 2022 was observed today at DC’s Conference Conference Hall, Lawngtlai by organising a short function.

The function was presided over by District Civil Supplies Officer, Lawngtlai Pu Lalrinsanga. Deputy Commissioner Lawngtlai Pi Marilyn Rualzakhumthangi graced the function as Chief Guest and delivered a speech. Chief Manager of Mizoram Rural Bank, Lawngtlai Branch Pu Joseph Lalremruata presented his paper on this year’s theme, “Fair Digital Finance”. Representatives from Consumer Association and Consumer Forum spoke and a short clip on “Consumer Rights Awareness” prepared by DCSO Lawngtlai was also shown.

Initiated by Consumers International, World Consumer Rights Day was observed on 15th March throughout the globe every year starting from 1983. The date was adopted as the “Special Message to the Congress on Protecting the Consumer Interest” was given by the then President of the US, Pu John F. Kennedy on 15th March, 1962.
